SPECIAL PROGRAM MANAGEMENT

MIDAS successfully implemented and managed several special programs on behalf of various development agencies with the help of its own in-house professionals.

The following are some such programs that have been managed by MIDAS so far:

BUSINESS ADVISORY SERVICES CENTER (BASC) - a USAID funded organisation, specialising in delivering advisory services to trade and industry. MIDAS was engaged by USAID to incubate the organisation by designing and pilot testing programs and building institutional and professional capability.

SMALL ENTERPRISE DEVELOPMENT PROJECT (SEDP) of NORAD and Bangladesh Bank: MIDAS helped the implementation of the Innovative Industries Credit Line (IICL) program under the project. Under this program identification of innovative and commercially viable projects, preparation of feasibility studies and post finance monitoring were carried out by MIDAS.

TEXTILE DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM (TDP) - A Ford Foundation assisted textile and handloom weaving project to pilot-test different models of entrepreneurship development in the sub-sector. MIDAS was the implementing agency of this program.

SILK DEVELOPMENT PROJECT of the Swiss Development Corporation (SDC): MIDAS was engaged to manage the credit advisory part of this project. On a test basis, a few projects in the silk producing areas of Bangladesh were provided with technical and financial assistance under the project.

LOCAL RURAL POOR EMPLOYMENT PROMOTION PROGRAM (LORPEP): It was a special program of DANIDA assisted Noakhali Rural Development Project (NRDP)-II to develop and promote small and cottage industries in greater Noakhali. Under LORPEP more than 300 enterprises were promoted and financed. MIDAS worked as consultant to DANIDA for implementation of the LORPEP program, particularly for identifying entrepreneurs, carrying out feasibility studies and monitoring enterprises after financing.

PROMOTION OF THE PRIVATE SECTOR (PPS)
It was a multi-year project, under the Ministry of Commerce of the Government of Bangladesh and funded by German Ministry of Cooperation, aimed at promotion and development of entrepreneurship and small and micro enterprises in Bangladesh . MIDAS was the implementing agency of phase-I of the project in cooperation with GTZ. MIDAS is also a partner organisation in Phase II & III of the project.
